Mom rejects donated iPod, proceeding with lawsuit

An anonymous kind soul took it upon herself to buy Shannon Derrik a new iPod Nano, a pink case and a $50 iTunes gift card — but Melanie McCarthy, Derrik’s mother, who filed the lawsuit on her daughter’s behalf, is refusing the gift and is going ahead with the case.

Gotta love when idiots get all litigious for no other reason then being jackasses/greedy. I’m sure her daughter would’ve loved the nano, case, AND gift card. I’m figuring now the daughter is silently wishing bad things to happen to her mother. Who in their right mind would pass up an offer that good? Not I, not I.

So if anyone wants to throw a iPod Nano, a case, and a gift card my way — please by all means do it.

The Last Supper w/ Star Wars characters 24Aug06 | 0

Check out this cool painting done by an artist. Last Supper (Star Wars version) is just awesome, definitely worth a look even if you don’t dig Star Wars enough to care, it’s still a good piece of art.

Deftones - Hole In The Earth (Review) 24Aug06 | 0

200Px-Deftones - B-SidesFirst thing that comes to mind when people hear the name Deftones are usually resounding cries of glee when mentioning Digital Bath, Bored, or pretty much every track that was on White Pony. This is all well warranted because those songs, and their albums just kick ass. That was until their 2003 self-titled album.
That’s right, I didn’t like it. I wanted to like it, but it was way too hard because to me it didn’t seem to be on par with any of the other ones since Around the Fur (I never really got into Adrenaline except Bored). After that I suppose I was feeling let down, especially since Sevendust’s album sucked hard at the time too. So tooling around the net, and wandering onto their Myspace page and seeing a new song ready for my ears to love, I actually wasn’t let down this time.

Hole In The Earth has everything you loved about White Pony, Chino Moreno’s vocals over heavy guitar seems to never be a bad idea. It’s one of the main reasons people still dig on P.O.D. even when they know what the message is (me included), the guys have damn good vocals — and what’s a band with crappy vocals? Murderdolls. The track has everything good you came to expect of the Deftones when White Pony was out and Change (In the House of Flies) was getting play on MTV.

Definitely check out this track. It’s on their official myspace page.

Happy Mouse Puts Cabosh on Depression 23Aug06 | 0

Ever-Happy Mouse Sheds Light on Depression via Slashdot

Scientists have bred a strain of mouse that’s permanently cheerful, in hopes of better understanding and treating depression in people.

What I say to this, I say awesome. Now maybe in the future poor guys won’t have to worry about their girlfriends asking them if they look fat (when they do) and then having to lie. No more after dinner death’s after the missus pops out of her jeans due to Nutty Professor syndrome.

14-year-old girl sues friend over missing iPod 23Aug06 | 0

14-year-old girl sues friend over missing iPod

A spat over a missing iPod resulted in a lawsuit in Wheaton, Illinois, when 14-year-old Shannon Derrik sued her (now former) friend Stephanie Eick for losing her brand new iPod.

Now what pair of friends wouldn’t sue the hell out of each other over our pearly white overlord? Anyone else think that the whole iPod thing in life these days is a bit, Gollum-esque, people and their preeeeeeeeecious. Who’s next to sue, owners of exploding laptops? “My laptop exploded waaaaaaaaaaay sooner and louder then yours! I don’t even have a house anymore!” Too soon?

UPDATE: Because this story is so funny to me, each time I see another site post about it, I’ll link it here.

Cool TV 19Aug06 | 0

Though Sony has had a tendency to do really silly things lately (root kits, Everquest, etc.) and making things unnecessarily expensive (PS3), one thing remains — every now and then they make some cool lookin’ things. For instance check out this transparent TV, I don’t know about you folks but if I was rich I’d have these in every room, just so when I had friends over they could walk into ‘em and I’d yell, “Man! Watch where you’re going!” and of course their response would be, “Sorry I swear I didn’t see it!” Fun times right?

RIAA says they’re sorry 15Aug06 | 0

So yet again the RIAA has hit a bit of a snafu in suing the ever loving pants off of one of those dirty dirty file sharers. This time it comes in the form of “apologizing” to the children of a dead man. Seems like either way the wind blows, the RIAA’s fight against piracy and music sharing isn’t doing as well as they’d lead everyone to believe. Maybe one day they’ll stop suing numbers and people with no computers… A guy can dream.

State loses even more money 10Aug06 | 0

Championed by Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich, Illinois’ video game law made the sale of violent and sexual explicit games to minors illegal.

Now if only states/governments could get sued for passing/introducing other idiotic legislations. Maybe then tax payers could focus their money on more important things… like eating and of course sacrificing their first born for gas money (not you Zoe, I’d never trade you in for a tank of gas! :D).

On another more important to other folks who live in Illinois, maybe this’ll be another deciding blow to get Rod My-name-sounds-dirty-if-you’re-high out of office. Though the person he’ll presumably be running against is just as bad and just as stupid. Here’s too years more of retarded state spending! Hoorah!
