Obama 4 Prez 24Oct06 | 0

Everybody heard the speech and read his first 1995 memoir. Now remember, not a whole lot of people even knew who the hell he was in 1995 to know to buy his book. But now that he’s becoming a household name, oh buddy, watch out ’cause it seems like he’s aiming for MLK or JFK type acclaim (not that he probably doesn’t deserve it).

Since his pseudo announcement of his contemplating to run for presidential candidacy every where you go or surf it’s Obama this, Obama that. I say more power to him if it’s generating more book sales and in turn, more cash in his pocket. That’s the American dream right? Get rich off the masses and laugh all the way to the presidency.

Somehow though, I don’t necessarily think his saying he might run is an attempt at conjuring up interest for his book(s). The guy is eloquent, has the whole family image going for him (lots of Americans eat that up), and is a minority. He’s a first term senator and it seems like from day one that the democratic party was trying to kick him in the pants to get him to run in 2008. Is it because there aren’t any other democrats in office currently that could do a better job at being president or are they just seeing something in him that tells them “if he runs, we could win”?

Whatever the case may be, personally I think this is the best time for him to run. Who cares about his lack of stately experience? GWB has been in office for 6 years and still doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing, not to mention was a governor for a long period of time. Did all that “experience” translate to anything good while he was in office? Nope not at all.

So who’s to say that just because Obama’s been a senator for less then a whole term that he couldn’t do a great job as president? Not me.

I’ll vote for him if he’s on the ballot in 2008. Seems like a better placed vote then Hilary Clinton…

Boy Scouts don’t pirate 20Oct06 | 0

With all of the amazing things I hear boy scouts do, now they can get a badge for not stealing movies and (I’m assuming) music! Isn’t that a lovely way to teach our boys morality and what not.

Boy Scouts in the Los Angeles area will now be able to earn a merit patch for learning about the evils of downloading pirated movies and music.

Now all we need is to find a way to not have their scout masters molest them. Then we work on priests. Then we take over the world! Or just go get some ice cream and ice packs for that sore area. :P

Slick Rick getting deported again 19Oct06 | 0

Slick Rick, the eye-patched British-born, Bronx-bred rapper, is facing deportation yet again. … Now, Russell Simmons has joined the fight to keep the 31-year-old in the U.S., where has lived since 1975. Simmon’s Hip-Hop Summit Action Network is sponsoring a downtown press conference on October 24 at 11:00AM.

I don’t know why Homeland Security is bothering with kicking out Slick Rick for rapping on a cruise ship, guess they don’t have anything better to do. Guess the Ruler can’t catch a break when it comes to the heavy hand of the law. Can’t take a leisurely cruise and can’t shoot his cousin for extortion and accidently a bystander, since when can’t we do that? Thought it was our right as Americans. :P Maybe instead of large gold chains and diamonds he should rock doughnuts and sprinkles maybe they’ll leave him alone.

Recording Industry Admits We’re Fans 19Oct06 | 0

A video clip from Jay-Z’s live concert in June at Radio City Music Hall is popping up on all sorts of illicit music-sharing hotspots. But Jay-Z isn’t upset.

That’s because the rapper, at the request of Coca-Cola Co., agreed to allow distribution of the eight-minute clip — which included promotions for Coke — on the peer-to-peer sites, using technology usually used to thwart music pirates.

Look! We’re finally legitimized! Next thing you know the MPAA is going to think that people who download movies actually like movies! The world is ending, the sky is falling and Bush got a brain.

But they still want they’re damn money, and they’ll do anything to get it. Even if that means raiding your house and kicking your dog.

Ancient City in Iraq 19Oct06 | 0

Check out this beautiful ancient city in Iraq outside of Mosul. I dunno if anyone out there who reads this is interested in ancient cultures, but even if you’re not the site has some amazing pictures. See Ancient Hatra up close and as personal as you can get if you’re not a world traveler or archaeologist. Another site here with info on it.

Bit of an iconic and somewhat cheesy graphic being used by the Austrian Pirate Party to illustrate that the 3 aren’t so different. Will it actually make an impact, maybe in Austria but I doubt many people are going to get it, even if they stare at it for days. Makes ya think though.

Internet addicts have a problem 18Oct06 | 0

US internet addicts ‘as ill as alcoholics’

The US could be rife with “internet addicts” who are as clinically ill as alcoholics … The study, carried out by researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine in California, US, indicates that more than one in eight US residents show signs of “problematic internet use”.

The folks who are constantly on Facebook / Myspace / whatever-else-social-network, are sure to attest to this. I mean the sites are like crack to chicks who like to parade around in boobie showing shirts and cheek peeking shorts. It’s good times, for amateur voyeuristic porn-ish material. Not to mention the stalking capabilities!

Anyways this is old news to those of us who were around for the IRC craze and subsequent ICQ then AIM phases of the internet. Ah the good ol’ days. Remember those crappy 3D graphic’d chatrooms? Oh and The Realm? Best times ever.
