Classic Apple ad remixed to attack Hillary Clinton 19Mar07 | 1

Remember that Apple “1984″ (yeah like the book) ad way back when, when the Macintosh was first introduced to the masses yearning to break free? Yeah me neither, but it was named one of the greatest super bowl ads ever just before this years super bowl. Anyhoo some intrepid soul edited it to attack Hillary Clinton. Now before you go on about “those damn right-wing republicans!”, it’s actually an ad for Barack Obama. But he didn’t have anything to do with it, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, especially since it’s far more creative then any other political ad I’ve seen in… well ever.

Here’s the “offending” video.

Purdy neat eh?

Consumerist puts RIAA heads on blast 19Mar07 | 0

We all know that the RI/MPAA are quickly becoming the type of entities that drive people to rebel, and that they (more the RIAA so it would seem) will do anything to further their respective agenda’s, whatever those may be. But we common folk don’t actually know (without a little sleuthing that I doubt many have taken upon themselves to do) who is behind this massive litigious beast. That’s where the Consumerist comes in.

In a recent article, the Consumerist lists the top talking heads of each of the labels that make up the RIAA. Gives you their mailing addresses and convenient photo’s of the offending parties. As one commenter stated over at there, they all kind of look like mob bosses don’t they?

We’ve received a lot of requests to “expose” the RIAA for who they really are…

Now maybe with this info we can somehow, someway, get them to stop suing the infirm, elderly, children, and of course the dead. If you haven’t already, go check out that article and have some letter writing fun (it works for mothers against everything, so why can’t it work for you!).

Jack Thompson is crazier then I thought 17Mar07 | 0

The world is filled with many, many crazies, one of the most outspoken who isn’t a TV evangelist (at least I don’t think he is) is Jack Thompson. He’s the guy that blames video games for all the world’s problems. Here’s a nice little letter he’s I guess posted for the world to read and digest, and shake in fear that he’s going to down the great giant that is Take Two Interactive (publishers (?) of the GTA series and Manhunt series, and lately Bully).

Dear Gamers and Gamer Publications on the Internet and Elsewhere:

I have been praying, literally, that Take-Two and its lawyers would do something so stupid, so arrogant, so dumb, even dumber than what they have to date done, that such a misstep would enable me to destroy Take-Two. With the filing of this SLAPP lawsuit last week, my prayers are finally answered.

This lawsuit, filed in US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, is, without a doubt, the single dumbest thing I have ever seen any lawyers do in my thirty years of practicing law–while in continuous good standing to do so with The Florida Bar, I might add, the shock radio and video game industry’s efforts notwithstanding.

I encourage folks to read Psalm 35, a Psalm of David, which is brilliant in its entirety (since God Himself wrote it), but for those who don’t own a Bible or who think their hands will catch on fire if they touch one, here is the salient portion that applies to this lawsuit:

7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit,
which without cause they have digged for my soul.
8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares;
and let his net that he hath hid catch himself:
into that very destruction let him fall.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD:
it shall rejoice in his salvation.

The pit Take-Two has dug for itself will be patently clear next week when I strike back. Oh, and by the way, the entire Take-Two management and board will be gone on March 23, so this pit-digging comes at a very bad time indeed.
Amen, and Praise be to God Almighty, maker of Heaven, Earth, and yes, the maker even video games.
Jack Thompson

Yup, he’s crazy as old Christmas fruitcake.Hope this turns out HILARIOUSLY for him. Like he gets disbarred or something, again.

Spring cleaning 13Mar07 | 0

So if you’re a regular visitor to the site you’ll notice some pretty blatant changes.

One of them being, I’m using the default WP theme. Why you ask?

Let me explain. I’m one of those weird neurotic people who has to have everything “just so”. I don’t even dare look back onto archived posts for the fear that I’ll end up going through each and every one, one by one, until I fix every mistake and flaw I’ve ever made.

Given the constant upkeep and looking after, a website (let alone a blog) takes, I find that I’m seriously lacking in the department for care. Not saying that I don’t enjoy blogging occasionally, but I like to play around far too much. The constant adding and removing of plug-ins and themes has taken a toll on me (and probably this WP install, but it’s going to chug ahead! especially since I just went through the database deleting every reference to plug-ins I remember). So I decided in the vein of spring cleaning, I’d do just that and spring clean.

I think I might also take this time to re-learn some things that I’ve been meaning to catch up on. Namely PHP and the like. I don’t think I’ve actually kept up on anything web code related since I first caught the personal/not-so-personal website bug. Back in the days when phpBB was king and Invision Power Board was the newcomer (and still free).

And with this blog themeless, and it being the only thing (for now hopefully) that you see when visiting here, it will give me reason and motivation to completely turn things around. By turn things around I mean, I think I’m going to try my hand at doing good things with this here hole in the wall.

Stay tuned. I’ll still be posting, but the pages won’t be chock full of widgets and plug-iny goodness, for now only of course…
