Let’s talk football 05Mar08 | 0

So there have been some interesting developments lately involving key players for many different teams. Something’s have changed that really suck for certain fans, and some really be really great for other fans. Let’s go down the list shall we?

First, let’s start with my Bears.

  1. From what I hear we dropped Muhsin, which could be a good thing in terms of his growing number of dropped passes. He had a good run, and I still like the guy. Now remember I only said I heard this, don’t quore me on it if it’s nowhere near truth.
  2. We didn’t re-sign Bernard Berrian. This is going to hurt this team in the long run because he was our most consistent receiver, even though he too was plagued by drops and trying to do too much at times (anyone remember that one handed catch he tried to make and failed horribly at, I do). What’s going to suck more is that he’s going to the Vikes.
  3. Lance “I hate the Bears more then my expensive sports car” Briggs decided to stick around and rack up some more tackles along side Brian Urlacher.

And in Packer land…

Brett Favre is retiring. Sad to see ya go, figured you’d play at least another year. Hope you’ve got a good HoF speech ready Brett ’cause you’re gonna need it real soon.

The Jet’s have made a boat load of moves, including giving a left tackle a boat load of cash. I guess that’s them trying to make sure Chad Pennington will have a bit more time to hook up with his receivers. And maybe get their running game going a bit better. Lord knows us Bear fans know how that goes.

Rex out, Griese in 26Sep07 | 0

Poor Rex Grossman, lambasted by the media and Bears fans given false hope by his coach. If it weren’t for the 1 - 2 record we’ve got going I’d be more inclined to feel a bit bad for him. Now granted, in my earlier post I went on about how it’s not always his fault and what not, and I hold to that statement. But let’s be honest, he does have that Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde thing going on far too often now. You can see when he comes off the field with those looks of confusion (sometimes it could be fear/terror) that he’s no Peyton Manning or even a Vince Young.

But from my experience of being a mild Bucs fan (meaning I used to use ‘em a lot while playing Madden online) Brian Griese more then likely isn’t what we need here either. Not saying he’s a bad quarterback, he’s got a great arm to throw bullets and some moderately deep passes.

It’s good that they decided to do this sooner then later when it could really prove to be bad times for us (say 4 - 12). But maybe they could’ve waited a week. The first 3 games we had were probably the hardest in our whole schedule, so even if Griese looks like Superman it’ll be against teams with weak secondary. What QB couldn’t air it out against a Lions secondary who let McNabb run through them like a hot butter knife?

Fact of it is though, Griese’s in and we’ll probably see Rex somewhere next year on someone else’s bench. Good luck to him, and this may sound bad but, you better not turn into super Rex for some other team.

Ah football… 24Sep07 | 0

Every year there comes a special time in a persons life and usually that time is known as football season. It’s a time when that sport that’s as boring as watching paint dry, but not quite as boring as golf, starts coming to an end and people stop caring about fly outs and strikeouts. After a whole summer of nothing good on but repeats of classic shows like M.A.S.H. or Bewitched and flipping constantly between crap like NASCAR and C.S.I, it comes like rush of fresh air and feelings of joy and happiness.

We all suffer through those boring pre-season games where we get to see how our latest draft prospects look and debate amongst forums or water coolers on who will be a beast or a bust. Younger fans of the game get their mitts on Madden and let the online play and simming of their teams year consume them. It’s a good time had by all.

Until your team starts off losing. (More on next page…)
